About Footprints Maps

Our Mission

At Footprints Maps, we believe everyone deserves the freedom to explore, no matter who you are or where you're headed. We are building a free-to-use app to help you on your journey. No subscriptions, no paywalls and no sneaky hidden fees for the travellers. Some of our core goals are to help you discover more, create lasting memories, and protect the beauty of Australia for those who follow. All we ask is that you support the local communities and have fun along the way. Because the best footprints are the ones that lead to something real, and the map that guides you there shouldn't cost more than the memories you'll make.

Meet Our Co-Founders

A man called Rabbit walking towards the camera wearing sunglasses on a beach.

G'day, I'm Rabbit.

This whole idea started years ago, back when I was doing a lot of solo travel. Just me, the road, and a bit too much time to think. I loved getting out there, but half the time I felt like I was just drifting, with nowhere in particular to be and nothing really tying it all together. That's when the idea first started brewing. A way to turn travel into something more meaningful, a bit of a challenge, maybe even a game. For a while I thought it was just one of those silly thoughts you keep to yourself. One arvo after work, Combi and I were having one of those chats where you start wondering if we're meant for more than just clocking in and out each day. That's when I finally shared the idea I'd been sitting on. As soon as I laid it out, he was in. He got it straight away, and that's when Footprints really started to take shape. Since then, with the help of our incredible team, we've been flat out building something we reckon could change the way people travel. Footprints Maps isn't just about ticking off locations. It's about giving purpose to your journeys, connecting with the places you visit, and having a bloody good time doing it. At the heart of it all, we want to help regional areas thrive by encouraging people to explore beyond the usual spots and support the communities that make those places special. We're just getting started, but the goal's simple: help more people explore deeper, have more fun, and make sure the only thing they leave behind is their footprints.

G'day, I'm Combi.

When I decided to start stepping away from city life, I found a bit of peace exploring Western Australia and everything it has to offer. Being new to the 4WD and camping scene with no experience at all, I didn't realise how hard it truly was to find places worth going - lucky enough, Rabbit's already a Nomad who always has a destination in mind. When Rabbit first started explaining what is now the foundation of Footprints Maps, everything started to click, I could see the vision he had and shared the excitement. He'd been building the dream and playing this game in his head for near enough a decade, and I wanted to help bring it to life. Now, with the help of our amazing team, we're working flat out to bring people a platform that'll change the way we all travel - one footprint at a time.

From Idea to Reality

A Need for Change

Rabbit’s early travels revealed how hard it was to efficiently plan a trip, leading him to wonder: why isn’t there an app that makes this easier?

Supporting Local Businesses

A roadside bakery’s viral success highlighted the need for affordable advertising in regional areas, sparking an idea—what if travellers and businesses could benefit from each other?

The Road Ahead

Now, Footprints Maps is gearing up for launch, built to help travellers explore more while strengthening regional communities. And this is just the beginning.

Mapping the Experience

Inspired by video games like Red Dead Redemption 2, he envisioned an interactive map where users could discover locations, track their travels, and even earn rewards for exploring.

Bringing the Vision to Life

With encouragement from a friend who would become a co-founder, Combi, along with input from close friends and family, the idea evolved. A discovery phase was conducted, and the foundation for Footprints Maps was set.

Writing Our Story

As we continue to write this story, we want you to be apart of our journey! Stay up to date, and be the first to explore.
